Is Faith Important at University?

Keyword: Faith

Faith? What does it mean to you? I believe Faith is believing in something you can’t see, Hebrews 11:1-2 explains that “Faith is confidence in what we hope and assurance about what we do not see.

Throughout the Bible you have many individuals who had Faith in God such as Abel, who offered a better sacrifice than Cain (Genesis 4), it was by Faith that Enoch was taken to heaven so He would not die (Genesis 5) and it was by Faith that Abraham was going to sacrifice his son to God (Genesis 22)

What all these children of God had in common was Faith. They didn’t lack Faith, they trusted in God even though they haven’t seen him, they had the trust that no matter what the outcome will be there will be a purpose behind it.

NOW the question is; Do you have Faith in God while being at University? Or do you feel like when you come across certain difficult situations and God is supposed to be there but He isn’t; Do you sometimes feel like you have lost Faith? Do you feel like He has let you down, or He is supposed to care and comfort you in your times of needs but he is no where to be seen? Do you then lack Faith? You can tell the truth, don’t worry nobody is watching.

I don’t know about others but I can speak out of experience, there have been many times where I have lacked Faith, during my UCAS journey getting into University I pretty much lacked Faith I had gotten to the point where I actually thought God was failing me, there was so much He could do, but he just sat down and watch me go down a path which He knew was not good for me, but do you know how I overcame it? I prayed, I asked God why, why is He allowing me to go down this path, what am I going to gain from going down this path.

I prayed and said to God, you are the Alpha and Omega the beginning and the End, the Kings of Kings you know me better than I do, I commit myself into your hands, you know what is best for me and you know the purpose you have placed on my life, I just pray and asked for strength and your guidance as I go through this path, and may I never lack in Faith.

Sometimes we need to take a moment and speak to God, if we feel like we are lacking in Faith that is when the devil likes to step in and try to tempt us and stray us away from our path, this is when your prayers should become heavy. As Christians we will come across Trials and Tribulations and many Temptations but our strength in Faith is what will keep us going, our Christian walk is never smooth because the devil doesn’t like that, he always wants to interfere so he will take any signs of weakness to attack you, you must remain strong in your Faith.

We must always remember as University students that, yes there will be times where we will question our Faith but it is what we do about it that is important, how do we go about overcoming that problem and not being able to question our Faith whenever we come across difficult situations.

We need to remember that God has a purpose for each one of us, giving up when things get hard only just disturbs our purpose, it’s making us take a step backwards when we are only supposed to be moving forward, one verse which I really like is Jeremiah 29:11 reads “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

So whenever you feel like you are falling backwards come back to this Blog and read that scripture so stop reading right now, grab a pen and write it down and put it somewhere where you will always remember, another thing is you can speak to your friends and family about this, they can also help you encourage you and motivate you, you can’t always deal with things by yourself it is good to confide in someone so you don’t bottle it all up. God Bless

Love Jess
