Hi guys and welcome to my page, hope everyone is good and if you haven't checked out my first post you can go and check that out after this :)
Today's topic is the university since I am at university I thought I would write a post, well I'm a first year so I haven't experienced everything yet, soon come but so far it has been good, making new friends and managing my time. First time leaving home and being independent may sound exciting, don't get me wrong it is but it can be daunting and scary sometimes because you don't have your parents there with you, you are by yourself and you have to learn to be independent and do things by yourself such as cooking, cleaning.
I am grateful because I get to share my experience with my twin sister, (yasss I came uni with my sister ), but yeah it's exciting because I am not by myself and I have someone to confide in and share my experiences with, Bestie for life.
Guess what we even live in the same block, but unfortunately different flats but we do the same course, we are technically stuck with each other forever. The social life here is good, there's like a lot of events going on, but it's not every day going out, sometimes stay at home. You are probably wondering where I go, hmmm..... I GO, I GO DMU, I GO, I GO DMU. De Montfort is a very interesting place, people think that DMU is like the party central and if you come here you won't learn, but it all depends on you, do you want to spend £9k on partying every day I don't think so, yes you can have a social life but you need to learn that you came to university to get a degree in your chosen subject and not in partying, I don't know about you but I ain't spending 3/4 years at university to go and sit at home with no job after my degree.
My university journey was very long and difficult, and it was also very stressful words can't even describe it. As for most people their university process was smooth for me it wasn't, I got rejected by all my chosen universities for the course that I wanted to do which was Child nursing, and when I say that the course is hard to get into I'm not even joking, it is hard but you have to be committed and motivated if that is the career path that you have chosen to go into.
During that process my faith was tested, I thought God why are you allowing me to go through this and what am I missing in my application that is not allowing me to secure a place at any of my chosen universities? I became very stressed because all of my friends and peers were getting into university and I wasn't, the funniest thing was that it was happening to my sister as well and at a point I felt like give up because I thought there was no point I wasn't going to go to university so I better start looking for a job or plan B, because plan A wasn't working.
Throughout all this my big sister Dayzey (shoutout to you girl ) was there throughout the whole process even to now, motivating me, encouraging me and made sure that I didn't stress and that I kept calm and that God had a plan for me so therefore I shouldn't doubt myself and God. All I kept on telling myself was that I can get rejected by all universities but I will be going DMU by fire by force, no matter what the devil may be planning in my path I will overcome it and guess what even when they rejected me for my course, they saw something in my application and thought no we want this student at our university and now I am here, so guys don't let the devil dictate your future or step in your path because God has greater things for you.
My tips for year 13's coming to university are to:
Know the reason why you are coming to university
Don't lose your faith, as you get there find a church
Don't get lost in the sauce ( meaning don't get carried away by the university lifestyle)
Most important don't forget your morals and how you were brought up
Manage your time wisely
Make new friends and lastly enjoy yourself some of the friends and experiences you come across can stick with you for the rest of your life. Hope you guys enjoyed and I pray that your day is productive and don't forget to give thanks to The Almighty God each day,
Stay Bless
