Hey guys,
It's been a while I have been M.I.A, I have just had a lot on my plate and I have not had enough time to constantly post new things, I apologise. I hope you are all well and that everything is going well.
Let’s get started, today’s post is about Anointed for Excellence and Purpose; Jeremiah 1:5-7 this was the theme for Youth Camp 2016, I loved it I would encourage everyone to come. (P.s if you want to come next year contact me and when all the relevant information is out I will inform you). I am going to be explaining the notes that I took and there will be explanations of the theme in more depth.
Right where was I, yes the theme was Anointed for Excellence and Purpose, straight away what comes into your head when you hear this? Is it fulfilling your purpose, being anointed? Or What.
Being anointed is to be prepared, God makes provisions to prepare us, these provisions come in various forms;
Community; your purpose applies everywhere you go in life, and that purpose is fulfilled in the community.
Will; to live and do it God’s way, Philippians 2:13 “For it is God who works in you to will and act in order to fulfil his good purpose”
Wisdom; 1 Corinthians 1:24 “but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God”
What is Excellence?
Excellence is being good, perfection having no mistakes or flaws so good it can’t get any better, excellence is not a competition with others in Gal 6:4-5 “Each one should test their own actions, they then can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else, for each one should carry their own load. Excellence is a journey and not a destination. We shouldn't have to compare our excellence with others to see who has the best, no rather we should focus on our own excellence and excel in it.
Facts of Excellence:
Excellence is a choice, why choose Excellence? Why not it is the same effort expended either way
Excellence requires a commitment to that choice; if you are going to achieve excellence in big things, you develop the habit in little matters. Excellence is not an exception it is a prevailing attitude.
Excellence is a journey and mistakes are allowed to happen, progress is not perfection, celebrate the success.
Excellence will open doors for you, Prov 22:29 “Do you see someone skilled in their work? they will serve before kings; they will not serve before officials of low rank”
You have to remember that excellence is a daily progress and you have to keep strong and stay on that journey, building on what you have and keep trying, don’t give up because at the end you will be celebrating your successes.
What is Prayer?
Prayer is a weapon against evil temptations
Prayer is communication between yourself and God, it's free
It’s to exercise/Develop your relationship with God, through worship
It’s an interaction with God
Prayer is asking for forgiveness
A confession
A call for help
A way of expressing your thoughts and feelings with God
If you don’t communicate with God it is because you haven’t formed a good relationship with him, so it makes it harder for you to seek him
Prayer is not all about asking for something, it is more than that
Prayer is not an excuse for laziness, you have to act
We must begin to believe that God is the mystery of prayer, he has entrusted us with a force that can move the heavenly world and can bring its power down to earth
Each time you intercede, be quiet first and worship God in his glory, think about what he can do and how he can do it. God delights to hear the prayers of his redeemed people, think of your place ad privilege in Christ and expect great things.
True prayer is measured by weight and not by length, a single groan before God may have more fullness of prayer in it than a fine oration of great length.
If you want that splendid power in prayer, you must remain in loving, living, lasting, conscious, practical, abiding union with The Lord Jesus Christ.
Prayer is where the action is.
When we pray we need to be confident in God’s will, and that he will answer our prayers.
Faith brings assurance
Ephesians 6:10 “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.”
Time is needed to fellowship with God
Prayer is developed by practice, the more you pray the more effective you can become.
A prayer is a tool which helps you to communicate with God
Sometimes we may think that God doesn’t answer our prayers in the time frame that we want, this is because God wants us to wait, whatever we may be praying for we may not need it. God’s time is the best. We have to be patient and wait when the time is right.
Having faith is believing in something you don’t see. To be sure and certain that what we don’t see is true.
What is a purpose?
The purpose is a reason, a mission, a task, an intention, an assignment and a meaning. God created us to rule and govern over things, he created us to rule over the resources of the earth, but he never mentioned that he created us to dominate or rule people. The key in life is to find the area of your listing and that is where you will lead, rule and govern.
When we begin to understand what our purpose in life is we won’t beg anyone to follow us because we have mastered our purpose/gift. We live in a world where everyone is so intrigued by other people’s talents, gifts and purpose and we tend to lose what our own purpose is, have you discovered your gift?
In the Cambridge Dictionary, a purpose is why you do something or why something exists, according to God purpose is your work you have been chosen to fulfil a certain purpose God has given to you. You can’t chase after someone’s purpose because of the shoe won't fit.
If you are unsure of what purpose you have, pray to God and ask him to guide you to fulfil the purpose he has set for your life, and may he give you the strength to chase your own purpose instead of others.
When our Rev was explaining purpose to us, he told us that there is a clear difference between work and job, the dictionary’s version of work is “an activity involving mental or physical effort done in order to achieve a result” and the definition of a job is “a paid position of regular employment or a task or piece of work, especially one that is paid.”
When he explained it he stated that a job is something you work to get money to pay your bills, or other expenses etc. and work is something or a gift you’re working towards. Working brings passion and pain, as much as it’s painful the passion for working will take over and work manifests in different dimensions, our purpose will come from something that we are really passionate about.
